In his own words
Hi, my name is Khalil Popal; I was born on December 24th 1987 in Kabul, Afghanistan and am a citizen of Australia. I'm 19 years old and a high school graduate from the state of New South Wales, Australia. I have been playing football for 14 years. Football is my life’s dream and passion and I want to make it to the top of the world one day.
I have been playing professional football with the Australian youth squad for the past 3 years. I represent the state of New South Wales at the national level. I have also been part of many Australian national high school championships. I have participated in many outdoor and indoor (FUTSAL) competitions and have traveled to a lot of great places. Current Status
I have been offered a deal to play with a youth Brazilian club for half of 2007. This as you might guess is a golden opportunity for me in order to further excel in the field of football and bring my game to a different level.
Today was my first day in Brazil and let me tell you, I feel great. I find this place very interesting and hopefully I could learn a lot from this ‘football heaven’.
Throughout my life I have sacrificed a great deal to play football because it means everything to me. My ultimate dream is to play in the FIFA World Cup. So far I have been lucky enough to be part of Youth World Cup football in 2006.
