Tamanna Roashan - Stylist, Make up Artist
Biography:
Tamanna jan recently graduated from Hayward University in Organizational Management and Marketing. She
is an avid contributor to the Zeba Magazine and works fulltime at Lancome Cosmetics.
Tamanna Roashan is a very ambitious individual who has already established her reputation as being one of the best Make up artists in the industry. In a recent interview with Afghanbuzz.com Team she said “Creativity is a drug that I cannot live without. As an artist, I am visually inclined in every thing I arrange or create. Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works. I make things work. That is my passion, that is my trade. I am an artist, and the human face is my canvas. Makeup artistry is not only color and placement, it is an illusion. It is the talent of camouflaging flaws and revealing true and natural beauty. Makeup is not putting on a mask- it is an enhancement and should be treated that way. The purpose is not to hide you, it is to radiate your individual exquisiteness… something no one else can possess but yourself…”.

We at Afghanbuzz.com Wish her all the Life’s Success and Hope that we could aspire other young Afghans to follow successful paths in life and choose a career chosen by them and not their parents ![]()

I wish u all the best in ur future endeavours. I for one encourage the Afghan youth to set high goals and achieve what is possible but has been discouraged as a result of a backward mentality that is evident so clearly even in our our friend smil reply. Like him, many more Afghans will continue to frown upon talent and people who follow your heart. However, while you’re ahead in life achieving ur goals these people will keep envying you and eating their hearts out.

Great work Tamanna! I am sorry about the comment that jackass smil wrote…. Its because of him we no longer have a country. Fukin Talibans can go to hell and so can smil. Anyways wish u all the success in the world!

Ok I agree with Ali and Aryana, but you have to know that there are limits to everything. I have to say Smil is kind of right in a way.
All I see in her is 100% fakeness!

Well you see, Smil does have a point, where he/she states that afghans are now adopting the western culture and throwing away their dignity just to blend in. Forget about Afghans modeling these days (to tell the truth it isn’t really that “BAD” lol) but now look around, you can’t look at any Afghan today and guess that they are pure. Most are going around having girl/boy friends, doing nasty things with guy/girls who they are most likely not going to consider marrying in the future, and to sum it all up; many just basically threw away their morals and values to just experience quick pleasure. The lifestyle I see many Afghans living these days makes me embarressed for them. They seem confused and out of order, they lack strong educational mentality and see life as a way to forget about the real reason why they have been put on earth. Well Whatever it is I am afraid that by the time my children grow up, Afghans will go totally insane! Oh well as long as i keep my morals and dignity and teach my family what separates right from wrong, then I am safe. OH AND BY THE WAY, SMIL WHY ARE YOU CURSING OUT TAMANA (you had a point about the way afghans are acting these days)? But TAMANA JAN IS A MAEK UP ARTIST…AND WHAT IS SO “SLUTTY” ABOUT THAT?

Hello everyone! I didnt realize I had a page with comments! I am honored to be part of this website and thank u to all my supporters, friends, and family!!
In response to those who do not approve of my profession- especially to SMIL and ZARA:
Thanks for taking the time out to click on my tiny picture in the “Spotlight Afghans” page among the many other faces, and taking the time out to actually post a comment. I understand that there are many Afghans out there who have lost their culture, morals, etc. However, it is your mentality that assumes this to be true to ALL westernized afghans. Very unfair portrayal. I am not a nude model, nor do I show myself in an indecent exposure. I am a MAKEUP ARTIST and I believe in making women look and FEEL their best. AfghanBuzz chose all pics to be displayed of their own taste. Nothing wrong with that, and I thank GOD every day for such a supportive family who saw talent in their daughter and let it grow!! =) To defend myself and all other western-Afghan women who are viewed unjustly, it is very out of line to tell me that I am 100% fake or that I am shameless or that I am throwing away my culture to blend in. I LOVE where I come from on both sides, I believe in God and I believe in good morals and being as successful as can be to guide our future generations to their right paths. You do not know me on that level, and good thing you don’t because IF you had the pleasure, you would be eating your words
To my fans and supporters, you may see all the rest of my pictures and artwork on my website http://www.DressYourFace.com and you can befriend me on facebook under Tamanna Roashan. Thanks for everything!!

How is she slutty and how is she fake?? How can u guys figure someone out from a pic? Obviously Smil showed us how much class he has by putting down one of his own afghans by not even knowing them…Grow the hell up people… She has accomplished something that is of her own interest, religion and culture are a PERSONAL part of someones life that no one can comment on………Once again– Grow up people.

Tamanna Roashan is a person who had a dream and went for it. She’s ambitious, talented, and one of the rarest in this world. She is a role model to the young, and there should be no shame in what she does. what she wears does not make who she is; and that should not matter. What should matter is, that she pursued her career in something she loves, and has a passion for, and now is a successful Make-up artist who is going far in life. All young and ambitious people should follow in her footsteps.
And to all people who are going to comment: Dont judge a book by its cover!

First, i’d like to congratulate u Tamana jan! keep up the good work.
We should all be proud of her accomplishments!
Thanks to all those who have posted positive comments.
As for u indecent cowards who can’t see the through ur misogynistic veil of hatred and ignorance, u should be ashamed of degrading ur comments.
There’s nothing honorable, or “ghairaty,” about cursing a young woman–esp. an Afghan woman. There’s nothing Islamic, or honorable, about mistreating women, oppressing women and telling them to behave like subservient objects.
Take ur “ghairat” elsewhere; or better yet, if ur so full of it, put it to good use and build ur country.
Tamana jan is a well-educated and accomplished woman and a great example for Afghan, as well as non-Afghan, women. She deserves to be respected. Perhaps if u knew ur “afghan culture” well, u’d show some toward her.

To Afsana and Smil
My argument is that I cannont make an argument with you. You two are like every other pathetic female monger all across the world. You differentiate yourselves from Americans or Afghan Americans. The truth is you are not that different.
Every pathetic insecure man has developed away to deal with their insecurities in a manner befitting their cowardice. They blame women. Some have developed cultures where they call them sluts (Americans) and some have developed cultures where they stone them.
See it really doesn’t matter what Tamana does, because if she does anything that purposely or consequently shows sexual choice - you are going to condemn her because you never see yourself as the choice. You see yourself as the choice that got passed up which in your pathetic, weasel, shrill face is totally inaccurate. What women would want someone as weak and two-faced as you. You best have daddy or mommy set something up. I am sure that somebody out there, that has done something really horrible, deserves you and is out looking for you.
Oh and to Smil, if I ever had the means, I would eradicate you and your entire pathetic male bloodline and free your women from their boring, mundane, and sad sexual existence.
stick that in your pipe and smoke it, you noodle dick pea brain!!!

You go girl.
There is some messed up english in this room.
Haters are everywhere haha.
Good job.

I read through the excerpts and gather the negative personna exists against individuals (ie, Tamana) not fitting the viewers boxed stereotypical idea of what a person should be like. The beauty of Tamana jan is that she can be whatever she wants to be. That is the freedom afforded both religiously and culturally is limitless. The gems of the west are many and while it is being emulated everywhere in the second and third world there is a genuine misrepresenting of the important aspects of western culture.. Freedom!!!!

Tamana!
First off, I would like to condemn Smil and Zara for their indecent and pronouncing judgemental comments above. They need to learn some respect and manners, which clearly shows that they lack such attributes tremendously…why? Because, unfortunately, their parents lacked in their parental upbringing from the start.
In more happier note: You are the most talented Afghan girl I ever seen. Trust me, I have friends and family where they talk about your talent and your mannerism. Dont let Smil’s and Zara’s comment stop you an ounce. when you have to deal with ignorant and incompetent people, most certainly not by choice. Just ignore them and by doing so we rise above them all.
Love your work and I wish you the very best of luck in your future endeavours. I am proud of you as an Afghan girl!
A+ to your education, manners and to your cosmetician work!
Best wishes!

I am unsure and concerned about all of the rhetoric..there does not seem to be any way to correct or connect to the thinking of some. I
I just wanted to say that Tamana is someone to know. This is a total package-a real jewel. This is a young soul who goes into the world each day to make it better. You get her to smile and you are blessed with the sunshine! This is a woman of beauty. This is a young woman I am so lucky to have known for a short time and my life is better for it–this I know for sure.
This beautiful young woman is the future so please, please, PLEEEEASE pay attention…because she will help bring us a bright future indeed. There is nothing to fear here.–step back and let her work her magic! Yes, we CAN have it all!

its so nice to see a beautiful educated young women be successful! You go girl! Seeing young afghan girls Like tamana we should be happy to have her as an inspiration to other younger afghan girls out there. U can still pursue what u love and finish your education too! For all those haters this is why our country will never be fixed bc of your poor mentalities that are merely restrictions and poor judgements set on young women and holding them back from being succesful. Anyways i just want to say that haters on here are just haters and have nothing better to do than to say stupid things about people who have lifes lol.

January 23rd, 2010 at 1:19 pm
you go girl and don’t listen to these fools that try to pull you down. It’s because they don’t have any thing of their own especially brain and follow the words that those stupid pervert ten wifer (not a proper word i know) mullahs preach to them. They don’t want to see the power of a woman and what she can do and are used to putting us down. Muslims are not taught to go around and criticize people and if you want to speak of the afghan culture it always taught us to be kind and respectful to one another. Beating women and locking them inside the house and covering them with blankets so they don’t see the world and learn about their rights is the culture and religion of uneducated and idiots and has nothing to do with being a Muslim or afghan. The prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said that if you don’t have anything good to say about someone then it’s better not to speak.
You are beautiful outside and the inside beauty glows from your eyes and smile. I can tell you are a sweet girl and may all your dreams come true.
p.s. I want to get a haircut by you but I live many miles away.

I would first off like to say that Tamana Jan,
you are an icon. You are one that has set young Afghan girls to a limit where they know they can achieve their dreams and they might not always have people supporting them but in honor to them selves, they know will be able to go through it and they won’t be alone in the journey.
Many people can argue and call others ‘haters’ but I wouldn’t technically say they’re hating. They’re just letting out their voice. Isn’t that what America is about? Its natural for people to disagree with ones actions but it’s also disrespectful to call some one a dog. If you are so worried about their gharate, maybe you should look at your self and see how you have none.
